First edition. Published by Collins, London in 1939. The book is in fair condition, with fading to front and rear boards and to spine. There is also a paper spine split along the front endpaper; this does not affect the binding or its tightness. The interior otherwise is very clean and tight, with no missing or loose pages.
Illustrated with fifteen dog Studies in Colour including a frontispiece of "Dookie", the Royal Family's Corgi. Also dozens of black and white drawings by Lucy Dawson (Mac). The artist really captures the characteristics of her models. Most of the colour illustrations in this edition are printed on pages without printing on the back of them.
The price reflects the condition of the book, but not its rarity.
