Rare and First Edition illustrated by Rene Bull (1912). Published by Constable & Co., London. The hard coversrs are of maroon cloth, with gilt titles and colour illustration to front cover. There are twenty beautiful colour plates - illustrated by Bull - under captioned tissue guards, as well as accompanying black and white drawings. This is a very good copy, the spine has some slight fading, but is to be expected with a book of this age.
Rene Bull was an Irish born artist, who became known as a war artist during the Armenian Massacres, Boer Wars and the Sudan. Bull had a great interest in the art of the Orient and his travels to the Middle East, provided him with a knowledge of Arab costume and customs.
