Translated by Jean Hersholt ,preface by Brian Alderson. The Hersholt translation was first published by The Limited Editions Club, New York, in 1949, and subsequently published for general sale under the imprint of The Heritage Press. The present edition follows the text of the latter edition but rearranged in chronological order with minor emendations. Both volumes unread. Illustrated with colour plates and line illustrations Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Mabel Lucie Attwell, Chris Riddell, Michael Foreman and others.
