The book is in excellent condition, decorated in blue buckram with silver lettering to spine, black endpapers, as well as a number of photographs, plans and drawings. Contained within its original dark blue slipcase, which has minimal shelfwear.
The book was first published, posthumously, in 1936 by the Golden Cockerel Press in London as a limited edition consisting of two volumes, The Thesis and The Letters, being a classic text on Crusader castles and their relation to Western military architecture. This Folio edition follows the text of the 1936 edition, with minor emendations and an introduction by Mark Bostridge.
