The book is in excellent condition bound in quarter black leather bound to grey boards, with gilt lettering. Illustrated by Elisabeth Frink with black and white illustrations throughout. The book is housed within its original slipcase which is also in excellent condition.
The Odes are a collection of Latin lyric poems with the Horatian ode format and style emulated since by other poets. Books 1 to 3 were published in 23 BC. A fourth book, consisting of 15 poems, was published in 13 BC.
