Rare and beautiful edition

The book is in excellent condition with ark green full-cloth boards illustrated by Rie Cramer which depicts knight and maiden on horseback with soldiers and dogs, travelling the countryside beside body of water; framed with beautiful pillars. The spine appears to depict The Wild Swans and The Fir Tree story with bands. . The book has minimal shelf and corner wear, but has had no impact on the gilt letter and design detail. The book has thick, rough-cut deckled pages generally very good with slight toning to endpapers; the frontispiece illustration is missing and two images have some minor tears.
 
Illustrated and detailed throughout in black and white monotones by L. A. Govey in addition to the seventeen mounted colour plates by Cramer. The endpapers have uniquely stamped silhouetted designs in bluish-gray.
