While the book does not advocate cooking wild animals like hippopotamuses, the frontispiece states that the book contains "much fanciful instruction on How to Choose a Wife, How to Avoid Work, How to Smile and Amuse Children; as well as Guidance on Roughing It, Cultivating a Magnetic Gaze, Defending Yourself against a Mad Dog and on How to Visit an Old English Inn..." 
 
The book is in excellent, like new condition with no shelfwear or damage to the hard covers which have a fantastic illustration to the front and plain (navy) to the back.
