Published by the Folio Society, London in 1996. The book is in excellent condition with quarter cloth over pictorial boards. Gilt lettering to spine. The slipcase is also in good condition with scratches and slight damage to the side. There are numerous black and white period photos.
The then British Vice-Consul to Moscow, R. H. Lockhart was charged with establishing a diplomatic understanding with the Bolsheviks to ensure that the Russians remained at war with Germany between 1912 and 1918. The book was a best seller when first published in 1932.
