The book is in excellent condition, bound in original publisher's cloth, with title lettering on spine and illustrated boards with a design by Jonathan Burton, who is also behind the frontispiece and nine colour illustrations. Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger introduces Orwell's masterpiece in this striking new edition. The slipcase is in a similar condition with minimal shelf wear. 

 

Orwell's ninth and final completed book, thematically, it centres on totalitarianism, mass surveillance and repressive regimentation of people and behaviours. Nineteen Eighty-Four has been often regarded as a classic and has been acknowledged for its impact on twentieth-century literature as an example of dystopian and political fiction.
