Published by The Folio Society, London, 1957. The book is in very good condition, with the original gilt-blocked decorated cloth, that has very minimal wear or damage. The page edges are very slightly dust-toned as with age. Corners sharp with an overall tight, bright and clean impression. The book includes a frontispiece portrait of Lord Nelson, endpaper maps and other illustrations.

Originaly published in 1813 by Robert Southey who was a man of letters, a historian, Poet Laureate, and staunch friend of Coleridge, Wordsworth and Landor. An excellent full life-story of Nelson. His enthusiasm for his subject and the simplicity and clarity of his diction have made this a very popular biography of the great naval commander.
