Published by the Heritage Press, New York in 1947.

The book is in very good condition, bound in publisher's original gilt-blocked cloth spine and linen-backed boards, with pictorial to front. Complete with gold-card slipcase which shows sign of wear, but is sturdy without splits. From the translation prepared at Cambridge in 1611 for King James I. This version has a preface by Mary Ellen Chase and includes eight colour plates by Arthur Szyk.

The book tells of Ruth accepting the god of the Israelites as her god and the Israelite people as her own;"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me."

The Book of Ruth is read during the Jewish holiday of Shavuot.
