This classic collection of Hakluyt's voyages across North America has been given a modern retelling and introduction by A.L Rowse; Rowse argues that Hakluyt's achievements in geography, navigation and the Atlantic settlements rival Shakespeare's significance in drama. Hakluyt informed the English of all the developments in the New Wolrd and informed them of their earlier achievements at sea.. It is a large, almost coffee table sized books and has many colour and black and white illustrations of artifacts and key figures from the time.
