The book is in excellent condition and bound with black cloth, with gilt lettering on the spine, illustrated paper to front covers. The slipcase has some shelfwear, but is in overall very good condition.
The book contais 53 illustrations, 47 of them in colour. Translated by W.H. Auden and Elizabeth Mayer. Magnificent travel writing, showing why Goethe was one of Europe's greatest writers in the late 18th / early 19th centuries.
