The book is in excellent condition, with full dark purple cloth blocked in gold and printed in red, green and blue-green covers with a design by David Eccles. The binding design is quite stunning and is based on that of 'Gems of English Art' (1869). It includes an introduction and epilogue by Angela Thirwell.
The book contains 104 illustrations printed in the text, 62 in colour, mostly reproducing paintings and drawings by, and portrait photos of, the Pre-Raphaelites. The text is mostly drawn from Rossetti's 'Some Reminiscences' (1906) and 'A Memoir of Dante Gabriel Rossetti' (1895), with additions from other sources.
