Published by the Heritage Press, New York in 1949.
The book is in very good condition, bound in light gray with bright red artwork and spine, with gilt lettering. The book does not come with a slipcase. Literally rendered from the Arabic into French by J.C. Mardrus, and then translated into modern English by E. Powys Mathers. With an introduction by C.S. Forester. Pen-and-ink and watercolour illustrations by Edward A. Wilson throughout.
The book also includes paste-down endpapers, which are a portion of a map drawn by the famed Arab geographer Idrisi (1100-1165), showing the area of Sindbad's travels. This is a charming edition of the most favourite of the Arabian Nights tales.
