The book is in excellent, like new condition bound in original blue paper covered boards with illustration and decoration in red and gilt, housed in the original slipcase. Illustrated throughout by Francis Mosley, with a black and white frontispiece, 28 chapter illustrations and a two colour fold out map to the rear.
The 1997 Folio Society reissues of 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' featured Francis Mosley's new binding design, with this first Folio Society 'Silmarillion' edition illustrated throughout by Francis Mosley, also with his binding design.
