The book is in excellent condition, with a minor lift at the top of the spine, bound in illustrated cloth boards that match the original printing. The slipcase is in very good condition with minimal shelfwear. The book is a handsome facsimile of Edmund Dulac's full colour illustrated edition, with 14 plates throughout this edition. 

 

The book contains six vivid, intriguing stories: 'The Minotaur', 'The Pygmies', 'The Dragon's Teeth', 'Circle Palace', 'The Pomegranate Seeds', and 'The Golden Fleece' which are told in simple, but concise language. Tanglewood Tales was the result of a challenge, Nathaniel Hawthorne set himself, in the early 1850s, to transform the most famous Greek myths, in order to capture young imaginations afresh.
