The book is in excellent condition, bound in illustrated cloth boards that match the original printing. The slipcase is in very good condition with minimal shelfwear. The book is a handsome facsimile of Edmund Dulac's full colour illustrated edition, with 14 plates throughout this edition.
The book contains six vivid, intriguing stories: 'The Minotaur', 'The Pygmies', 'The Dragon's Teeth', 'Circle Palace', 'The Pomegranate Seeds', and 'The Golden Fleece' which are told in simple, but concise language. Tanglewood Tales was the result of a challenge, Nathaniel Hawthorne set himself, in the early 1850s, to transform the most famous Greek myths, in order to capture young imaginations afresh.
