The book is in very good condition, bound in original orange cloth with brown decorations on the boards and spine, gold lettering on the spine; housed in a tan slipcase. Illustrated by a frontispiece and several additional in-text and full-page illustrations of the animal characters in the stories by Seong Moy.
Legends of the Old Plantations told by Uncle Remus in dialect, also Uncle Remus' Songs, A Story of the War (1870), and his sayings. With a foreword by Marc Connelly and an introduction by author Joel Chandler Harris, in which he says that his purpose for writing the Folk-Lore series was to preserve the legends themselves in their original simplicity, and to wed them permanently to the quaint dialect of the old plantations.
